1.08 EXISTING UTILITIES <br /> <br />A. Known utilities and structures adjacent to or encountered in the work are shown <br />in the Drawings. <br /> <br />1. The locations shown are taken from existing records and the best <br />information available from existing utility plans; however, it is expected that <br />there may be some discrepancies and omissions in the locations and <br />quantities of utilities and structures shown. <br /> <br />2. Those shown are for the convenience of the CONTRACTOR only, and no <br />responsibility is assumed by either the OWNER or the ENGINEER for their <br />accuracy or completeness. <br /> <br />B. Additional costs incurred for idle time of equipment or labor as a result of <br />uncovering unknown utilities shall be for the CONTRACTOR's account. <br /> <br />C. Notify the ENGINEER and OWNER of conflict between existing utilities and <br />work to be performed prior to proceeding with the work in question. <br /> <br />1.09 CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR UTILITY, PROPERTY, AND SERVICE <br /> <br />A. Make arrangements for protection of utilities, properties, and services such as <br />television, power, electric, gas, fiber optic, water, sewer, or irrigation systems. <br /> <br />B. Notify utility offices affected by construction operation at least forty eight (48) <br />hours in advance. <br /> <br />1. Under no circumstance shall utilities be exposed without first obtaining <br />permission from the appropriate agency. <br /> <br />2. Once permission has been granted, the existing underground utilities may <br />be located, exposed and temporary support of these utilities shall be <br />provided. <br /> <br />C. CONTRACTOR is responsible to the owner and operators of these properties <br />for damage, injury, expense, loss, inconvenience, delay, suits, actions, or claims <br />of character brought because of injuries or damage which may result from the <br />construction operations under this Contract. <br /> <br />D.
