NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Encouraging Florida Legislature To Enact Reasonable Firearms Regulations. <br /> The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach strongly encourages the Florida <br /> Legislature to take up the issues of school gun violence and gun violence in our communities, <br /> considering all potential methods for protecting school children from gun violence and <br /> develop effective strategies to address, support, and provide resources for persons suffering <br /> from mental health issues, which may include: enacting reasonable firearms regulations <br /> (such as universal background checks); providing resources to address mental health issues; <br /> enhancing "active shooter" and related safety and security training for students, teachers, <br /> administrators,parents, and others; and implementing enhanced security measures for public <br /> schools and other community institutions. <br /> Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized <br /> to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution <br /> Section 3. Direction to the City Clerk. The City Clerk hereby directed to send a certified <br /> copy of this Resolution to the President of the Florida Senate, Chairperson of the Florida <br /> House of Representatives, Senator Daphne Campbell, Representative Joseph Geller and City <br /> lobbyist Ron Book. <br /> Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become = ' - 've upon adoption. <br /> PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of March, 2018. <br /> George .
