(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED Geophysical and Geotechnical Sand Search Investigation, Sand Key Pinellas County, Florida PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If applicable) 2009 N/A BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm Mr. Andrews coordinated the USACE Jacksonville District and Pinellas County on a marine‐based sand search to locate two million cubic yards (mcy) of beach compatible sand within and in‐between existing USACE Sand Key Study Areas, as well as areas closer to Sand Key. A high‐resolution geophysical survey was conducted in areas close enough to Sand Key to optimize construction costs, but far enough offshore to avoid shoreline impacts, with the final survey areas defined in close consultation with Pinellas County and the USACE. The geophysical survey (seismic sub‐ bottom, sidescan sonar, fathometer, and magnetometer) were conducted over the course of six field days. b. He assisted with geotechnical analysis of the New Pass ebb shoal borrow area and pre and post‐ construction physical surveys required to support the 2009 Beach Nourishment Project. The project won the ASBPA Best Restored Beach Award for 2009. c. Recently, Mr. Andrews directed all survey and geotechnical investigations for the Port Dolphin Beneficial Use Project including seismic reflection profiles, sidescan sonar imagery and magnetometer surveys and vibracores and has conducted in the field and sediment evaluations and borrow area design from the office. In addition to geotechnical studies to locate and evaluate sediment sources he has directed physical monitoring, bathymetric and hydrographic, for all Manatee County projects since 1989.
