BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost)
APTIM has served FDOT‐6 on this contract for the past two consecutive contract periods since 2007. APTIM is an
extension of the Department on roadway projects ranging from Level I’s and Level II Impact to Construction Assessments
through utility installation and source removals. We have performed UST removals, in situ remediation, source removal
including buried solid waste excavation/ segregation and removal. We have performed permitting and dewatering and
treatment of millions of gallons of groundwater contaminated with Ammonia, in support of FDOT‐6 construction
projects.
APTIM has also become an extension to the Department by providing in‐house consultant support, plan review,
management and regulatory liaison and developing alternate reuse for water and soil produced during construction
activities. This has proved to be financially beneficial to the state and accelerated project timelines throughout the
district. APTIM has completed surveys of bridge structures for asbestos containing materials that are proposed for
renovation or demolition.
State Road 826/836 Interchange, Miami, Florida
The State Road 826/836 Interchange is currently under construction for road improvements in Miami. The improvements
include the installation of drainage structures, construction of ramps, and 49 new bridges.
APTIM continues to provide CAR services as needed during the on‐going construction for the interchange. We were first
tasked during the design phase to evaluate the potential impact to construction. Areas of potential impact were
identified from review of previous environmental documents and a Contamination Screening Memo provided to the
Department. APTIM performed an ICA for more than 20 properties inside the project corridor. APTIM prepared
environmental notes for construction plans.
APTIM conducted source removals resulting in loading, transportation and disposal of approximately 10,000 tons of solid
waste and 1,000 tons of arsenic impacted soil, performed closure assessment for USTs and environmental compliance
oversight and attended weekly construction progress meetings. APTIM successfully implemented a plan for debris
removal from excavated soil and reuse of the arsenic contaminated soil in the project corridor with a saving of over
$800,000 to the Department.
Miami Intermodal Center Avis Rent‐A‐Car, Miami, Florida
APTIM supported the MIC team with plans review for the new tracks and East Concourse construction, permits support
and environmental liaison with the Miami‐Dade Department of Health and DERM. We performed soil and groundwater
assessment in former Avis and Hertz, Rinker and TriRail sites, permitting; UST and AST removal and closure; treatment of
ammonia groundwater and preparation of Solid Waste Removal Plan for upcoming activities at the TriRail Station.
25.
