BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />APTIM has provided our comprehensive services to CEPD since 1988, including: coastal zone planning, permitting, <br />engineering design, studies and design, coastal modeling, geotechnical, storm response efforts, construction assistance, <br />biological and physical monitoring, funding applications, geographical information system (GIS) and CAD services, survey <br />and mapping. Our history with the District is an example of our dedication to providing a wealth of technical and program <br />management services that benefit our clients. <br />APTIM designed, permitted, and supervised the construction of the beach renourishment projects for Captiva and <br />Sanibel Islands. APTIM conducted the initial project feasibility study. APTIM also assisted with General Design <br />Memorandum (GDM), which qualified the project for Federal reimbursement, amended and updated the project GDM <br />for continued Federal funding, and provided benefit calculations for the Captiva Erosion Prevention District’s (CEPD) <br />apportionments. APTIM developed the initial inlet management study in 1995 and is currently assisting with the inlet <br />management study update. APTIM has assisted the District in securing FEMA funding assistance for multiple storm repair <br />projects. In addition to beach nourishment, APTIM designed, permitted and supervised construction of the rehabilitation <br />of the Redfish Pass terminal groin to improve sand retention on the island, which was partially funded by FEMA. <br />The CEPD constructed the 2013 project locally, placing 740,000 cy of fill on Captiva Island and 75,000 cy of fill on Sanibel <br />Island to replace storm damages from Tropical Storm Debby, and refilled the template to its full capacity. APTIM assisted <br />CEPD with development of an expanded borrow area, construction plans, and specifications for the 2013 Captiva and <br />Sanibel Islands Project. APTIM performed on site construction observations for the District and represented CEPD during <br />the construction process. APTIM also developed a dune restoration and vegetation plan in conjunction with the <br />renourishment project. APTIM is currently assisting the District with the post‐Irma assessment to seek FEMA <br />reimbursement to repair storm damages to the project area. <br />In 2014/15, APTIM prepared and submitted a 15‐Year multi‐use expedited permit application for repeat projects to the <br />FDEP and USACE. This permit application allows for flexible management and response to major storms, hot spots, or <br />routine maintenance. These permits allow flexibility to address a range of project needs. <br /> <br />25.
