City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida   <br />Marine and Coastal Professional Engineering Consulting Services (CCNA) | RFQ No. 18‐02‐01  <br />  <br />  <br />Aptim Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc.  <br />41  <br />01C032018D  <br />  <br />Coastal and Waterway Program  <br />CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA  <br />Project Description  <br />APTIM has provided various coastal and marine engineering  <br />services for the City of Deerfield Beach since 2005 and is currently  <br />assisting the City with the development and implementation of  <br />their coastal and waterway program. The City’s waterfront  <br />presents many unique challenges, which require attention during  <br />design and permitting to avoid impacts to the environment while  <br />maintaining project intent and benefit. The following provides  <br />summaries of current and previous projects we are implementing  <br />or have completed for the City.  <br />Storm Berm Nourishment Project  <br />Since 2016, our team of coastal engineers has been involved with  <br />the preliminary design and permitting of a storm berm  <br />nourishment project for the City. The project included topographic  <br />beach surveys along the entire City shoreline to support the  <br />preliminary design, which included a varying design template to  <br />restore the dune and beach berm. Sand samples were collected  <br />and analyzed by our in‐house geologists. A Coastal Construction  <br />Control Line permit was prepared and submitted to FDEP. The final  <br />permit was recently issued and provides the City with a proactive  <br />mechanism to nourish their shoreline before or after a storm.  <br />Hurricane Irma Pier Repair  <br />APTIM performed a structural engineering assessment of the  <br />International Fishing Pier to evaluate damage sustained during  <br />Hurricane Irma. The assessment included both above and  <br />underwater data collection, which was used to provide  <br />recommendations for repair design. We provided structural  <br />engineering design for the repair of the structure. The project is  <br />currently under construction and we are providing construction  <br />administration services.  <br />Artificial Reef Project  <br />APTIM is currently engaged by the City to design and permit  <br />the construction of a recreational artificial reef in the  <br />nearshore of the City offshore of SE 2nd Street. The project is  <br />based on the Artificial Reef Feasibility Study we completed in  <br />2010. The project is partially funded with grants from Florida  <br />Sea Grant. APTIM completed a materials assessment of the  <br />existing boulder stockpile in Tivoli Park, completed a stability  <br />analysis to optimize the design, and prepared permit  <br />applications for Broward County, FDEP, and the U.S. Army  <br />Corps of Engineers. The project is currently in permitting  <br />with construction expected in late 2018.  <br />Client  <br />City of Deerfield Beach, Florida  <br />Client Contact  <br />Patrick J. Bardes, Coastal &  <br />Waterway Coordinator   <br />City of Deerfield Beach  <br />401 SW 4th Street  <br />Deerfield Beach, FL 33441  <br />P: (954) 480‐1426  <br />F: (954) 480‐4393  <br />pbardes@deerfield‐beach.com  <br />Project Date  <br />Start: 2005 End: Ongoing  <br />APTIM Staff  <br />Tom Pierro – director and senior  <br />project manager  <br />Jordon Cheifet – project manager  <br />and engineer of record  <br />Stacy Buck – lead marine biologist,  <br />permitting    <br />Kathryn Brown – dive team lead   <br />Lauren Floyd – senior marine  <br />biologist  <br />Michael Lowiec – surveying  <br />Heather Vollmer – GIS mapping   <br />Gary Krystyniak –  CAD drafting  <br />  <br />APTIM performed a topside assessment of  <br />Hurricane damage.
