Hines, CMC <br />Assistant City Manager Jorge Vera <br />Commissioner George "Bud" Scholl (absent) Assistant City Attorney Fernando Amuchastegui <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />Action: Commissioner Goodman led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br />Mayor Edelcup gave opening remarks. <br />ZONING: ZONING HEARINGS ARE QUASI- JUDICIAL PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br />Request of R.K. and Associates, Owner of the Property Located at 16830 Collins <br />Avenue, for the Following: (Hearing #Z2009 -01) <br />The Applicant is seeking to revise an approved site plan for the construction of a new bank <br />building in the RK Shopping Plaza located at 16830 Collins Avenue. <br />1. Pursuant to Section 265 -18 of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Land Development <br />Regulations, the Applicant is requesting a modification of an approved site plan for the <br />construction of a new commercial retail building within the Town Center District. <br />Action: Mayor Edelcup gave opening remarks on zoning procedures /decorum and City <br />Clerk Hines read a disclaimer for the Zoning hearing, and administered the oath to the <br />witnesses for the Zoning hearing. Community Development Director Robert Solera reported <br />that the Applicant's request reduces the total square footage from the original request of <br />6,000 to 4,000 square feet. He noted the Applicant's original plans, as well as follow -up <br />plans showing a monument sign, which meets all the requirements of the Code. As part of <br />the conditions, he has requested that the Applicant provide Art in Public Places. <br />Public Speakers: Raanan Katz; Arnold Shevlin <br />Raanan Katz asked that the Commission approve this application but with the economy the <br />way it is, and if it does not work out with the bank, that he can revert back to the original <br />approved site plan of 6,000 square feet. Mayor Edelcup said it is Mr. Katz's option to come <br />
