SR 7 Improvement Projects from Commercial Boulevard to <br />Broward/Palm Beach County Line, FL <br />This $13 million project included the improvements of 9.8 miles of SR 7 in Broward County through the <br />Cities of Tamarac, North Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale, Margate, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek and <br />Parkland. The project scope entailed milling and resurfacing, upgrading pedestrian features including <br />10-foot sidewalks on both sides and detectable warning surfaces at crosswalks, installing overhead <br />sign structures, upgrading signs and pavement markings to include a 7-foot bike lane in each direction <br />, installing new bus shelters with bicycle racks, trash receptacles, and benches, upgrading drainage <br />system, upgrading signalization including pedestrian signals and detectors and vehicle video <br />detection, and upgrading the roadway lighting. CEI Responsibilities included administering the <br />construction contract, ensuring compliance with specifications, certification packages, and as-built <br />plans, maintaining a constant line of communication with FDOT officials, designers, stakeholders, <br />utility owners, and respective agencies, managing inspection staff, handling and coordinating all work <br />with the contractors and utility companies, reviewing all lane closure requests, preparing the monthly <br />and final estimates, tracking material submittals, managing and updating the material certification <br />program, analyzing construction claims to determine entitlement, negotiating, generating and <br />processing work orders and supplemental agreements, coordinating/tracking request for information <br />(RFI’s), shop drawings, and plan revisions, inspection and documentation of daily activities, ensuring <br />underground and roadway construction is completed in accordance with the specifications and <br />Contract documents, reviewing testing results and earthwork records, ensuring compliance with <br />approved MOT plans and ADA, verifying quantities, public communication and coordination with <br />businesses and residents. <br />FDOT Donald Van Whervin, P.E. <br />7 <br />(954) 958-7654 <br />2019CEI Services
