BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Hollywood operates a full service police department for its 150,000 <br />residents and over 100,000 annual visitors; the City’s voters recently approved <br />a General Obligation Bond, which included funding to replace the current Police <br />Headquarters Building with a new facility. The existing Police Headquarters <br />Building is a four story approximately 76,040 SF facility, located at the SE corner <br />of Hollywood Blvd and Park Road. The department currently has a total of 426 <br />full time positions, both sworn and civilian employees. The current 1970’s police <br />station is outdated and cramped and was approved by tax payers to design a <br />new facility in 2020. <br />PROJECT SCOPE <br />The planned 4-story building will double the size of the existing police station <br />incorporating much needed new technology that isn’t available on the current <br />electrical grid. Features of the station will include a much larger property & <br />evidence room, training and gun range, quartermaster, patrol, holding cells, <br />detective units, recruitment, administration and public information for 425 <br />employees with room to grow.
