Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting February 19,2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida carry forward as well as projects, purchase orders that need to be re-appropriated for transfers between projects. There are prioritized needs between projects where funds need to go as well as any additional budgetary needs that we have identified in the interim while we were waiting for completion of the Audit. Public Speakers: None Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the proposed Ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- 0 in favor. An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.Amending Chapter 171 ("Historic Landmarks")of the Code of Ordinances to Provide a Definition of"Objects"; Providing for Severability; Providing for Inclusion in the Code; Providing for Repeal of Conflicting Provisions; and Providing for an Effective Date. Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and City Attorney Ottinot reported that this Ordinance was requested by the Historic Preservation Board, and he noted that the Chair of the Board Jorge Camaraza is here tonight. The purpose of this amendment is to identify the historical objects collected by the City from the hotels located on motel row. In order to properly identify the historical artifacts as historical objects this is to ensure they are preserved with respect to the duties of the Historic Preservation Board. This Ordinance defines "objects" based on language from the Code of Federal Regulations, and includes boundary marker, monument, milepost, fountain, sculpture, and statuary. Public Speakers: None Commissioner Aelion said that the Commission has approved the site plan for the new two Acqualina Towers which are going to come in where the Golden Strand is located which is an historic hotel that has been here for many years. There is a plaque of seahorses on the wall that may be an interest to the Historic Preservation Board but there is a plaque at the entrance gate on the right made from brass that is also an emblem of the Golden Strand and it is worthwhile for the Board to consider it as an object to preserve.
