The purpose of this amendment is to identify the
historical objects collected by the City from the hotels located on motel row. In order to
properly identify the historical artifacts as historical objects this is to ensure they are
preserved with respect to the duties of the Historic Preservation Board. This Ordinance
defines "objects" based on language from the Code of Federal Regulations, and includes
boundary marker, monument, milepost, fountain, sculpture, and statuary.
Public Speakers: None
Commissioner Aelion said that the Commission has approved the site plan for the new two
Acqualina Towers which are going to come in where the Golden Strand is located which is
an historic hotel that has been here for many years. There is a plaque of seahorses on the
wall that may be an interest to the Historic Preservation Board but there is a plaque at the
entrance gate on the right made from brass that is also an emblem of the Golden Strand and it
is worthwhile for the Board to consider it as an object to preserve.
Commissioner Aelion moved and Commissioner Levin seconded a motion to approve the
proposed Ordinance on first reading.
