Paint: Formulated for the type of surface and intended use. <br />1. Primer for Galvanized Metal: Single-component acrylic vehicle formulated for <br /> galvanized surfaces. <br />2. Primer for Concrete Masonry Units: Heavy-duty-resin block filler. <br />3. Primer for Concrete: Clear, alkali-resistant, binder-type sealer. <br />4. Enamel: Silicone-alkyd or alkyd urethane as recommended by primer manufacturer. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.1 <br /> <br />INSTALLATION <br />A. Identification Materials and Devices: Install at locations for most convenient viewing <br /> without interference with operation and maintenance of equipment. <br /> <br />B. Lettering, Colors, and Graphics: Coordinate names, abbreviations, colors, and other de- <br />signations with corresponding designations in the Contract Documents or with those re- <br />quired by codes and standards. Use consistent designations throughout Project. <br /> <br />C. Sequence of Work: If identification is applied to surfaces that require finish, install iden- <br />tification after completing finish work. <br /> <br />D. Self-Adhesive Identification Products: Clean surfaces before applying. <br /> <br />E. Install painted identification according to manufacturer's written instructions and as fol- <br />lows: <br />1. Clean surfaces of dust, loose material, and oily films before painting. <br />2. Prime surfaces using type of primer specified for surface. <br />3. Apply one intermediate and one finish coat of enamel. <br /> <br />F. Color Banding Raceways and Exposed Cables: Band exposed and accessible raceways of the <br />systems listed below: <br />1. Bands: Pretensioned, wraparound plastic sleeves; colored adhesive tape; or a <br /> combination of both. Make each color band 2 inches wide, completely encircling <br /> conduit, and place adjacent bands of two-color markings in contact, side by side. <br />2. Band Locations: At changes in direction, at penetrations of walls and floors, at 50- <br /> footmaximum intervals in straight runs, and at 25-foot maximum intervals in <br /> congested areas. <br />3. Apply the following colors to the systems listed below: <br />a. Fire Alarm System: Red. <br />b. Fire-Suppression Supervisory and Control System: Red and yellow. <br />c. Combined Fire Alarm and Security System: Red and blue. <br />d. Security System: Blue and yellow. <br />e. Mechanical and Electrical Supervisory System: Green and blue. <br />f. Telecommunication System: Green and yellow. <br /> <br />G. Caution Labels for Indoor Boxes and Enclosures for Power and Lighting: Install <br /> pressure-sensitive, self-adhesive labels identifying system voltage with black letters on <br /> orange background. Install on exterior of door or cover. <br /> <br />H. Circuit Identification Labels on Boxes: Install labels externally. <br />1. Exposed Boxes: Pressure-sensitive, self-adhesive plastic label on cover.
