When dewatering is necessary, and if requested, a plan showing <br />the proposed method must be submitted to the Local Maintenance <br />Engineer prior to beginning work. It must be in writing and should <br />be included with the subsurface investigation report. <br />The importance of a properly functioning dewatering system <br />cannot be over emphasized. If the permittee or his <br />contractor does not possess the experience and expertise <br />1 necessary to properly design, operate and maintain <br />dewatering system as dictated by individual project <br />conditions, the local Maintenance Engineer may require that <br />the system be designed or operated by the permittee s <br />choice of reputable firms specializing in dewatering <br />operations. Dewatering systems shall be in conformance <br />with all applicable Federal, State, County and local pollution <br />control and environmental protection regulations. <br />i1 <br />1 07/03 16200 -9 03- 1438.A <br />The dewatering report shall contain where appropriate: <br />1) Plan and profile drawing of area to be dewatered, showing: <br />i) Location on plan view of pumps, headers, well <br />points, berms, sump holes, discharge points and their <br />relationship to the roadway, jacking pits and path of <br />proposed crossing. <br />' <br />ii) Elevations or depths on profile view of same features <br />and equipment as above. <br />2) Project identification and system design information. <br />i) Utility permit no. and location of project. <br />ii) Name of person who designed the proposed <br />dewatering system, firm employed by, position with <br />the firm. <br />iii) Data upon which design was based. <br />aa) Subsurface investigation as previously required. <br />bb) Previous experience in same area. <br />cc) Other, describe. <br />The importance of a properly functioning dewatering system <br />cannot be over emphasized.
