Manufacturer's certificate of fertilizer's chemical composition including but not <br />limited to percentage and derivation of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and <br />micro - nutrients. <br />3. Manufacturer's certification and /or testing laboratory certification that content of <br />' <br />soil conditioners meet specification requirements. <br />C. <br />Soil Samples: <br />' <br />1. Submit a one -pound sample of each soil mix specified. <br />1.05 JOB CONDITIONS <br />A. <br />Contractor shall become familiar with the site and the required work to complete this <br />section in accordance with the drawings and what is specified herein. <br />B. <br />Responsibility for fine grading shall occur under a separate contract. Any changes, <br />modifications, or disturbances to the fine grading shall be corrected by the responsible <br />contractor. <br />C. <br />PROTECTION: Protect and avoid any damage whatsoever to existing walks, pavement, <br />curbs, utilities, plant material, and any other existing work. <br />iPART2- <br />PRODUCTS <br />2.01 TOP <br />SOIL <br />A. <br />Topsoil shall be a 80 -20 mix, 80% fresh water sand (medium to coarse grade) and 20% <br />inland glades muck thoroughly mixed with a commercial shredder /blender or equivalent., <br />It shall be suitable for ornamental plant growth and free from hard clods, stiff clay, <br />' <br />hardpan, gravel, subsoil, brush, large roots, refuse or other deleterious material, and of <br />reasonably uniform quality. No site mixing will be acceptable. 6 inches of topsoil depth <br />shall be required throughout. <br />B. <br />Mechanical analysis: Topsoil and soil mixture(s) shall meet these specifications and the <br />following mechanical analysis, and shall be proportioned by volume rather than by <br />weight. <br />Sieve Size % Passing By Dry Weight <br />1 inch 99 -100 <br />1/4 inch 97 -99 <br />No. 100 40 -60 <br />Materials larger than one -half inch shall be disposed of off the site or as directed by the <br />architect. Existing leaf litter and plant material shall be excluded from topsoil and soil <br />mix. <br />C. <br />Maximum Soluble Salts: 300 ppm. <br />D. <br />Sterilize topsoil to be used in soil mixture(s) to make free of all viable nut grass, and <br />other undesirable weed seeds. <br />II <br />1 12/04 02484 -2 04 -4801 <br />
