B. Solvent -weld cement shall be colored with primer a contrasting color and <br />be easily recognizable against PVC pipe. <br />2.05 THREADED CONNECTIONS <br />A. Threaded PVC connections shall be made up using teflon tape only. <br />B. Connection between mainline pipe fittings and automatic or manual - <br />control valves shall be made using Schedule 80 threaded fittings and <br />nipples. <br />2.06 THRUST BLOCKS <br />A. Mainline piping shall have thrust blocks sized and placed in accordance <br />with the pipe manufacturer's recommendations and as detailed on the <br />drawings. Thrust blocks shall be a standard, poured concrete mix in <br />accordance with ASTM C -150, ASTM C -33, and ASTM C -94 with a <br />compressive strength (twenty -eight (28) days) of 3,000 psi. Thrust blocks <br />shall be installed at all tees, elbows, 45's, crosses, reducers, plugs, caps, <br />and valves. The IC shall be responsible to ensure stability of all thrust <br />blocks. <br />2.07 PIPE AND WIRE SLEEVES <br />A. Sleeves to be Installed: Sleeving under roadways and parking areas, as <br />indicated on the drawings, shall be required to be installed in this contract <br />and shall conform to the following: <br />1. All pipe sleeves shall have an inside diameter of at least two inches <br />(2 ") greater than the outside diameter of the pipe or wire bundle it is <br />to hold. <br />2. All pipe sleeves shall extend a minimum of thirty -six inches (36 ") <br />beyond the edges of pavement. <br />3. All pipe sleeves to be installed beneath future road surfaces shall <br />be PVC pipe, Schedule 40. <br />4. All irrigation system wires shall be sleeved separately from main or <br />lateral lines. <br />5. All pipe sleeves shall be installed at the minimum depth specified <br />for mainlines, lateral lines, and electric wire. <br />6. The IC shall coordinate all pipe sleeve locations and depths prior to <br />initiating installation of the irrigation system. <br />1 07/06 02810 -12 05 -5564 <br />
