The valve shall have a flow - control stem and wheel handle for regulating or shutting off the flow of water and an internal bleed plug for manual operation without electrically- energizing the solenoid coil. D. The valve construction shall be such as to provide for all internal parts to be removable from the top of the valve without disturbing the valve installation. 2.11 VALVE BOXES A. For gate valves, use Carson 1419 -18, or approved equal, plastic valve box with a bolt down lid. Install as detailed on the drawings. B. For control valves use Carson #11419 -18 captive L -bolt lock cover. Install as detailed on the drawings. C. For control wiring splices Carson 1419 -18 valve boxes. Install as detailed on the drawings. D. Valves boxes shall be installed flush with finish grade as detailed on the drawings. The IC shall assure percolation beneath the valve box by approved methods. E. Christy I.D. tags shall be installed on all control valves with valve and satellite number clearly imprinted. 2.12 IRRIGATION - CONTROL WIRE A. All electric - control, common, and ground wire shall be irrigation - control cable. All wiring to be used for connecting the automatic, remote - control valves to the automatic, independent- station controllers shall be Type "UP, 600 -volt, solid- copper, single- conductor wire with PVC insulation, and bear UL approval for direct underground burial feeder cable. B. All wire connections and splices shall be made with 3M -3570 Silicone connectors, Rain Bird snap -tite, or approved equal. All wire connections and wire splices shall occur in valve boxes. 1. Control wire from independent- station controllers to electric valves shall be AWG size 12/1 and shall not be shared between valves. 2. Common and control wires shall not be shared between satellite controllers. 3. Each satellite controller shall have its own separate white common wire. 07/06 02810 -14 05 -5564
