71, <br />SECTION 03300 <br />CAST -IN -PLACE CONCRETE <br />PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.01 DESCRIPTION: This Section specifies cast -in -place concrete, including <br />furnishing, placing, curing, protecting and finishing, designing, furnishing, erecting, <br />and removing formwork; constructing expansion and contraction joints and <br />waterstops. <br />1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE: <br />A. Concrete Quality: Concrete exposed to public view shall be executed to a <br />high degree of quality in forming, color, texture and finish. Concrete <br />exposed to public view shall be executed by an organization and /or persons <br />who have had adequate experience in producing high quality concrete. <br />1. Adequate experience shall mean that the Contractor and /or his <br />subcontractors and /or their personnel who execute the concrete <br />work, shall have had at least five years of experience in concrete <br />construction to the high degree of quality in forming, color, texture <br />and finish specified herein, and for work of the size and complexity of <br />this project. <br />2. The Contractor shall submit data to the engineer to support the <br />adequacy of his experience. <br />3. In the Contract Drawings and Specifications, concrete which is to be <br />constructed to a high degree of quality has been termed <br />"appearance grade concrete." Except for light sandblasting in many <br />areas, appearance grade concrete for this project is smooth, <br />untextured concrete requiring no patterned form liners, exposed <br />aggregates, or mechanical texturing. The specifications set forth <br />detail the requirements for submittals, jointing, form construction, <br />placement and vibrating, repair, surface preparation, and other <br />required techniques in the preparation of high quality concrete. All <br />concrete surfaces which do not get painted shall be considered as <br />appearance grade concrete. <br />' B. Formwork: Unless otherwise indicated, design, construct, erect, maintain, <br />and remove forms and related structures for cast -in -place concrete work in <br />accordance with ACI Manual of Concrete Practice ACI 301 "Specifications <br />' for Structural Concrete for Buildings ". Forms shall be lined when necessary <br />to provide the specified finishes, unless otherwise indicated. <br />07/06 03300 -1 05 -5564 <br />
