2.02 CABLE, WIRE AND CONNECTORS <br />A. Cable shall be rated for 600 volts and shall meet the requirements below: <br />1. Conductors shall be stranded. <br />2. All wire shall be brought to the job in unbroken packages and shall <br />bear the date of manufacturing; not older than 12 months. <br />3. Type of wire shall be THWN or THHN rated 75 degrees C suitable <br />for wet locations except where required otherwise by the drawings. <br />4. No wire smaller than 12 AWG shall be used, unless specifically <br />indicated. <br />' 5. Conductor metal shall be copper. <br />6. All conductors shall be meggered after installation, and insulation <br />must be in compliance with Insulated Power Cable Engineers <br />Association Minimum Values of Insulation Resistance. <br />1 2.03 BOXES <br />t <br />t <br />A. Boxes for wiring devices (switches and receptacles) installed outdoors or <br />wet locations shall be weatherproof fiberglass with polycarbonate cover <br />plates. Junction boxes shall be NEMA 4X construction. All boxes shall be <br />securely mounted plumb and level in readily accessible locations. <br />B. Pullboxes in the ground shall be Brooks #36 or equal. <br />2.04 GROUNDING <br />A. Grounding and Bonding: In accordance with NFPA 70. Ground all <br />exposed noncurrent - carrying metallic parts of electrical equipment, <br />metallic raceway systems, grounding conductor in raceways, and neutral <br />conductor of wiring systems. <br />B. Grounding Conductor: Provide an insulated, green - colored equipment <br />grounding conductor in all feeder and branch circuits. This conductor <br />shall be separate from the electrical system neutral conductor. Conduits <br />will not be approved as the grounding conductor. <br />C. The CONTRACTOR shall install all ground rods, ground wires, connectors <br />as required for the complete grounding system. <br />16050 -2 05 -5564 <br />
