7 Associates, . <br />Project <br />The S -4 and S -5 Pump Station is located on 172"d Avenue and the South Florida Water <br />Management District ( SFWMD) C -9 Canal. This single Pump Station structure services two <br />independent basins. CGA prepared the construction plans and specifications, obtained all <br />necessary permits, aided the District in bidding the project, analyzed bid packages, <br />recommended award, and provided construction services. The runoff from each basin is <br />directed to an inflow basin and then pumped to the SFWMD C -9 Canal. The set 30,000 - <br />gallon -per- minute (gpm) S -4 Pump Station consists of two 175- horsepower diesel engines <br />and two fully automated 30 -inch axial flow pumps. The 80,000 -gpm S -5 Pump Station <br />consists of three 200 - horsepower diesel engines and three fully automated 36 -inch axial <br />flow pumps. The station is a reinforced concrete structure supported on spread footers. <br />The station includes an emergency power generator and an 8,000 - gallon diesel concrete <br />fuel tank and ventilation system. The inflow basins are more than 16 feet deep with steel <br />sheet pile walls. A sluice gate interconnects the two inflow basins in case of an <br />emergency.
