This involves a careful balance between three driving factors.

Economics - balancing today's construction costs with operational and social costs.

Society - designing projects that do not compromise the integrity of surrounding areas or those
of future generations.

Environment - working within natural systems instead of against them by choosing materials
and design approaches to protect the environment.

. Pervious Parking Surfaces . Passive Parks

. Pedestrian and Bicycle Features
One of the most recent examples of utilizing sustainable design is during the development of the
Krome Bike Trail Project, BCC is performing for FDOT and Miami-Dade County Parks Dep't.
As part of this project BCC specified the use of recycled asphalt pavement as the riding surface
for a 23-mile trail. We also specified the use of recycled lumber materials for the trailhead areas
and pervious articulated block for the parking areas.
3.2 Experience with Regulatory Agencies
Most public sector projects require coordination across several jurisdictions.
