<br />commence. Verify that planting may be completed in accordance with construction plans <br />and referenced standards. <br /> <br />B. Discrepancies: <br /> <br />1. In event of discrepancy, immediately notify Consultant. <br /> <br />2. Do not proceed with installation of materials or plants in areas of <br />discrepancy until all such discrepancies have been fully resolved to the <br />satisfaction of the Consultant. <br /> <br />C. Soil Testing and Amendment: <br /> <br />1. Obtain and have tested, at a private testing laboratory, a minimum of <br />four samples of soil to be taken from those areas to be planted. <br />Samples shall be representative of the sensitive general conditions <br />prevailing in those areas within which planting and sodding shall be <br />performed. Also, obtain and have tested one representative, mixed <br />sample each of the planting soil and soil blanket materials intended for <br />use on this project. <br /> <br />2. Soils shall be tested for horticultural purposes and the test results shall <br />be submitted to the Consultant accompanied by a recommendation from <br />the testing agency regarding the suitability of the samples and <br />appropriate soil amendments required to correct any detrimental or <br />deficient soil conditions. <br /> <br />3. Testing shall include, but not be limited to, those tests required to <br />determine soil pH and the identification and quantity of soluble salts or <br />other common pollutants that may be in the sample. <br /> <br />4. If the pH of the samples representing the rough grade soil is determined <br />to be in excess of 6.5, the entire planting area of the site shall be treated <br />with an application of super-fine wetable sulfur. This amendment shall <br />be applied at a rate of 8 pounds per 1,000 square feet for each whole <br />point of pH in excess of 6.0. The material shall be thoroughly worked <br />into the top 6 inches of the rough grade soil. The soil surface shall then <br />be made smooth and the area completely watered to the full depth of <br />the soil amendment. <br /> <br />3.02 SCHEDULE OF WORK <br /> <br />PAGE 122 OF 130 <br />BID No. 08-10-01 <br /> <br />A. Stake the proposed location of trees to be planted. The Consultant reserves the <br />right to adjust the location of plant material. <br /> <br />B. Excavate planting pits and beds, and prepare fine subgrade. <br /> <br />C. Provide plants, fertilizer, planting soil and incidental materials required herein. <br /> <br />D. Place plants, backfill and guy or brace plants as required. <br /> <br />E. Complete fine grading and incidental Work specified herein. <br />
