SECTION 01030 <br /> SPECIAL PROJECT PROCEDURES <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> 1.01 COORDINATION <br /> A. Contractor shall be aware that the Sunny Isles Beach Newport Pier & Restaurant <br /> Utilities Reconstruction Project will be under construction at the same time of this <br /> project. Coordination of deliveries, cranes and equipment will be necessary <br /> between the two projects. Contractor shall also be aware that the adjacent La <br /> Perla Condominium is active and access to the facility needs to be provided at all <br /> times, Including emergency vehicles (lifeguard, police, and fire). Emergency <br /> access to be provided to both pier and beach. <br /> 1.02 OBSTRUCTIONS <br /> B. Contractor shall be aware that during digging in the ROW or on private property, <br /> the possibility exists that the Contractor will encounter various water, sewer, <br /> petroleum, gas, telephone, electrical or other lines not shown on the Drawings. <br /> The Contractor shall exercise extreme care before and during digging to locate <br /> and flag these lines so as to avoid damage to the existing lines. The utility locates <br /> are the sole responsibility of the contractor. Should damage occur to an existing <br /> line, The Contractor shall repair the line at no cost to the Owner. <br /> 1.03 PROVISIONS FOR THE CONTROL OF DUST <br /> A. Sufficient precautions shall be taken and sweeping during construction to minimize <br /> the amount of dust created. Wetting down the site and shall be required or as <br /> directed by the Engineer to prevent dust as a result of vehicular traffic or <br /> construction activities. <br /> 1.04 MAINTENANCE OF EXISTING WATER AND WASTEWATER FACILITIES OPERATION <br /> A. The Contractor shall take notice that existing water and wastewater facilities are <br /> operated in the construction area. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to <br /> contact the Owner's utility operator and ascertain the extent of any specific service <br /> area. <br /> C. The Contractor shall fully cooperate at all times with the Owner in order to maintain <br /> the operation of the existing facilities with the least amount of interference and <br /> interruption possible. Continuous service, public health and safety considerations <br /> shall exceed all others and the Contractor's schedule, plans and work shall at all <br /> times be subject to alteration and revision if necessary for above considerations. <br /> C. The Engineer and Owner reserve the right to require the Contractor to work 24 <br /> hours per day in all cases where, in their opinion, interference with operation of the <br /> system may otherwise result. <br /> D. In no case will the Contractor be permitted to interfere with the existing system until <br /> all materials, supplies, equipment, tools and incidentals necessary to complete the <br /> 08/12 01030-1 11-4179 <br />
