SECTION 01670 <br /> TESTING PIPING SYSTEMS <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> 1.01 REQUIREMENTS INCLUDED <br /> A. Perform specified services with Contractor's qualified personnel, or employ and <br /> pay for a qualified organization to perform specified services. In accordance with <br /> AWWA (Latest Edition) <br /> B. Pressure and Piping Systems. <br /> 1.02 RELATED REQUIREMENTS <br /> A. Section 01041: Project Coordination <br /> B. Section 02610: Pipe and Fittings <br /> 1.03 DESCRIPTION <br /> A. Perform testing of piping systems in accordance with the latest edition of AWWA <br /> and as specified below. <br /> B. Provide instrument required for testing of piping systems. <br /> 1. Make instruments available to Engineer to facilitate spot checks during <br /> testing. <br /> 2. Retain possession of instruments; remove from site at completion of <br /> services. <br /> C. Provide all water required for flushing and testing. The Contractor shall obtain a <br /> construction meter from the City at current rates. <br /> D. Provide all necessary pumping equipment and other equipment, materials and <br /> facilities required for proper completion of the flushing and testing specified. <br /> E. Source and quality of water, procedure and test equipment shall be acceptable to <br /> the Engineer. Length of tested line shall not exceed 2,000 feet. <br /> F. All tests shall be made in the presence of the Engineer. Notify Engineer at least <br /> 48 hours before any Work is to be inspected or tested. <br /> G. If inspection or test shows defects, the piping system(s) shall be repaired or <br /> replaced and inspection repeated, until such piping is acceptable to the Engineer. <br /> H. All pipe, fittings, valves and joints shall be carefully examined during test. Leaky <br /> joints shall be tightened by remaking the joint. <br /> 08/12 01670-1 11-4179 <br />
