Addendum No. 2 - Bidder Questions and Responses <br />CONSTRUCTION OF WALL UNDER THE WILLIAM LEHMAN CAUSEWAY <br />CITY RFP NO. 13-10-02 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />8. Can excess earthen material be placed between the existing gravity wall and the proposed <br />wall? <br /> <br />Response: A large segment of the existing gravity wall will be removed along length of <br />the proposed screen wall. If alternate on-site areas are identified by the Contractor for <br />placement of excess earthen fill, the contractor is required to coordinate with the City prior <br />to placement. If authorized by the City the following guidelines for use of fill material are <br />to be observed: <br />Where suitable earthwork is utilized, contractor to ensure that the finished grade <br />(including sod in landscape areas) is a maximum of 6” below the existing building <br />finished grade and at level of curbs and/or edge of sidewalks. A uniform transition <br />shall be provided where new grades blend into existing grades and manhole rims <br />in landscape areas. If impacted, it will be the responsibility of the contractor to <br />coordinate with the utility owners and adjust all existing manhole and structure <br />rim elevations to match new grade elevations, at no additional cost to the project. <br />All slopes and areas disturbed by construction shall be graded at 5 <br />(horizontal):1(vertical) or flatter. The existing drainage pattern shall not be <br />altered by use of fill material. <br /> <br /> <br />9. Can alternate wall designs (i.e. precast wall) be proposed while still meeting structural <br />requirements? <br /> <br />Response: Contractor may propose design alternatives for consideration. Signed and <br />sealed shop drawings and structural calculations will be required to demonstrate <br />conformance with design intent and project specifications. <br /> <br /> <br />10. Will a contractor staging area be allowed within the existing surface lot? <br /> <br />Response: The contractor shall submit a staging plan to the City of Sunny Isles Beach for <br />review and approval prior to starting work. Staging and storage areas shall be properly <br />fenced and secured by the contractor. During construction, these areas shall be <br />maintained in a neat and clean manner, and upon final clean up, shall be left clear of all <br />surplus material or debris. Paved areas shall be broom swept. The contractor shall restore <br />or replace, when and as directed, any public or private property damaged by his/her work, <br />staging, equipment and/or employees, to a condition at least equal to that existing <br />immediately prior to the commencement of operations and to the City’s satisfaction. <br /> <br /> <br />11. Has a building Permit been obtained for the proposed work? <br /> <br />Response: All permits shall be obtained by the contractor prior to the start of work. Please <br />refer to Section 2.21 Licenses, Permits and Fees on page 15 of the RFP. <br />
