Florida Public Speakers: None Vice Mavor Aelion moved and Commissioner Levin seconded a motion to approve the proposed ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- 0 in favor. An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending Section 2.4 "Qualifications ": Amending Section 3.2 "Powers and Duties of the City Manager"; Amending Section 7.4 "Charter Revision'; Amending Section 7.8 "Fire Rescue Service "; Amending Certain Sections for Clarification Purposes and to Correct Grammatical Errors; Providing for Requisite Ballot Language for Submission to the Electorate: Providing for Copies of the Charter Amendments to be Available for Public Inspection; Calling for a Special Election on the Proposed Charter Amendments to the City Charter to be Held on Tuesdav, June 4, 2013; Providing for Notice of Election; Providing for Balloting and Election Procedures; Providing for Severability; Providing for Inclusion into the Charter; Providing for an Effective Date. Action: [City Clerk's Note: This item was heard after Item 5D. See Item SD for additional action.] City Clerk Hines read the title. and City Attorney Ottinot reported. City Clerk Hines noted the Elections Department gave us the date of Tuesday. June 4, 2013 to hold the Special Election. Public Speakers: Lewis J. Thaler; After discussion, it was the consensus of the Commission to approve the proposed amendments and to hold the Special Election on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Mayor Edelcup said he felt that the Mayor is in a better position to appoint the Chairperson to a committee but if that is the desire of the Commission he won't hold an objection to it. Commissioner Scholl moved and Commissioner Gatto seconded a motion to approve the proposed ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- 0 in favor. Second reading, public hearing will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Edelcup said by this action the amount of items that can be submitted for the residents to review and vote on is closed, and City Attorney Ottinot said that is correct.
